Face Painting Materials & Safety

Face Painting by Sarah Maie observes current Health & Safety and Best Practice Guidelines. For safety reasons I only use high quality professional face painting materials such as Superstar, TAG, Kryvaline, FX, Wolfe & Grimas. These paints are hypoallergenic and include anti-bacterial properties which are specifically for use on the face and skin. I take health & hygiene very seriously and for this reason I use clean water and a fresh sponge per child to avoid cross contamination. Water is changed regularly during a booking and clean sponges used for each face. All equipment is thoroughly cleaned after each booking. All face painting materials used are water based, non-toxic, hypoallergenic and comply fully with EU and FDA toy and cosmetic regulations.

Removal

I recommend that face paints are removed with warm water and a soft flannel - I DO NOT RECOMMEND THE USE OF BABY WIPES ON THE FACE. Some skin types are prone to some very mild initial staining and a small amount of mild baby shampoo will remove this gently.

Terms and Conditions

I have your safety and interests in mind at all times and as a result I reserve the right not to paint under certain conditions. This list is not exhaustive:

I will not paint faces of anyone under 3 years of age. The face paint manufacturers do not recommend paint for anyone below this age and very young children can sometimes be overwhelmed by the results. I may paint a small design on hands or arms of children younger than 3 years of age but this will be at the discretion of the face painter. I am happy to paint anyone over the age of 3 years and have no upper age limit. If the child is between 2 and 3, a hand or arm painting will be offered at my discretion.

I will not paint anyone who is obviously unwell (runny nose/temperature/rash) or any other visible skin complaint (eczema; chicken pox; acne; cold sore; open wounds; eye infections etc) or any part of the body which I deem unsuitable. I will not paint anyone against their wishes (this may result in stopping painting before the final result if a child becomes uncomfortable or changes their mind). Please do not force your child to be painted if they really are uneasy or unwilling – face painting should be an enjoyable experience for both the child and parent. I will only paint on willing children and will not want the experience to be anything other than enjoyable. I will not supervise children. Their behaviour and safety is the clients and/or parents responsibility at all times. Children must be under constant adult supervision whilst being painted and waiting their turn.

If you believe the person to be painted has sensitive skin, a skin patch test can be carried out and is recommended if your child has sensitive skin or allergies. It is your responsibility to inform the face painter in advance if this is the case. Face Painting by Sarah Maie cannot be held liable for any allergic reaction to the paint or for any reactions which may occur from the paints or materials used as a disclaimer to this effect is on display at the time of painting and should be observed.

If you are making a booking for a children’s party, please ensure all parents are aware in advance that a face painter will be on site, especially when parents/guardians are unlikely to be present. As part of the booking process I can, if requested, provide you with pre-printed cards to send out with your invitations notifying parents. It is the host’s responsibility to ensure that all parents/guardians have been informed and that any comments are relayed back to the face painter. Without prejudice I reserve the right not to paint any persons I feel should not be painted.

Face Painting by Sarah Maie holds a 10 million pounds Public Liability Insurance policy with EQUITY. References are available from previous clients upon request.

Thank You.
